Animal rights’ defenders gathered in front of the newly built and yet unopened Kısırkaya Animal Detention Center in the outskirts of Sarıyer, Istanbul, to protest the Metropolitan Municipality aiming to collect and isolate city animals. Many activist organizations including Northern Forests’ Defense, Freedom to Earth, Sarıyer Urban Solidarity, and Independent Animal Freedom Activists joined the protest. The protesters tore down the fences of the animal detention center with slogans and applause.
